IIPM fights meltdown, places 2300 students By Education Mail Bureau

Good news is sometimes clothed in misery. Or so it seems for N. Chandrasekaran, COO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who is all set to succeed S. Ramadorai to the top job at India’s biggest software exporter in October this year.The move, subject to shareholders approval, would make Chandrasekaran, 45, one of the youngest CEOs to spearhead the IT company. Where’s the misery, you ask? Well, the transition has come in times of trouble, implying a tough road ahead for the new CEO. His foremost challenge will be to deal with the hiccups thrown TCS’ way by the economic slowdown & Obama’s outsourcing protectionism. He also needs to look at new ways of lowering costs to keep competition at bay. “He must focus on strengthening TCS’ footprint in other emerging markets to end all problems,” suggests N. Wadhwa, MD, SKI Capital. Once Chandrasekaran takes over, market watchers familiar with his style of working, predict a more aggressive era for TCS. But it certainly will not be a walk in the park as recessionary clouds loom large in global markets...
