People in Electrolux need to understand what’s going on

His impeccable foresight comes into play when he discloses the leadership model that follows in the company. He shares, “The company is very much based on entrepreneurship. People in Electrolux need to understand what’s going on. Electrolux is not a commando company... it’s not like an army where we tele-fax orders. We want our employees to take initiatives and not wait for orders. We firmly believe in giving freedom under responsibility to our employees.”

On inquiring about how important is the Indian market, Hans affirms, “The Indian market is very important and since it is developing very fast a lot of companies are getting attracted and are investing here.” He agrees that Electrolux is “not there yet” in the country. That’s one reason why Electrolux has entered into a partnership with Videocon, where the latter owns the brand in India. Electrolux provides back end expertise and Videocon is in charge of execution.
